Adult and Youth Morning Workshops

These workshops are created for adults and high-school aged kids and will be offered while kids 13 and under are doing separate activities with counselors (see Kids).

Transgender Inclusion

With Alyssa Ryanjoy
10 a.m. - noon Mon - Fri, 1:30 - 3:30pm Wed
With content provided by Transforming Hearts Collective, this course will take your knowledge and skills to the next level in terms of trans identity. In addition to helping make Bayside more fully inclusive and affirming of the full breadth of gender diversity, participants will also be able to bring what they learn back to their home congregations.

Each of our six 2-hour sessions will involve learning from the course videos, individual reflection, and small group discussion. This deep exploration of trans identity, spirituality, and faith community will be best experienced in a consistent and supportive group, so we ask that you attend every session if you would like to be part of the group (though if you want to drop in Monday to see what it’s like, that is perfectly fine).

Bitcoin 2.0

With Luke Brooks-Shesler
10 - 11:30 a.m. Tues
Bitcoin 2.0 is the follow-up to Bitcoin 1.0 from Bayside 2022. We'll introduce bitcoin to first-time workshop attendees, re-cap the previous year in bitcoin, and continue our discussion on the viability of bitcoin and the philosophy of (crypto)currency.

Update on the Weird Stock Market

With David Kesler

The Weird Stock Market is back by popular demand! We will update the doings of the stock market.

Tie-Dye!

With Lutherdale Counselors
1:30-5 p.m. Mon
Tie-dye is the unofficial Bayside uniform! Add to your collection this year by bringing 1-2 items with you to camp to tie-dye (the higher the cotton content, the better!) The items will be processed and dried before the end of the camp week.

My Spice Cabinet

A little history and description, but mostly sampling and taste testing!

Pontoon Rides

With Lutherdale Staff
1:30 - 4:30 p.m. Wed
Groups of 11 will take 1-hour tours around the beautiful Lauderdale Lakes sharing landmarks, history, and geological knowledge as you experience the fresh lake breezes and sunshine. (Note: Those participating in the Transgender Inclusion Workshop can still participate by taking the last slot for pontoon rides.)

Climbing Tower, Zipline, and Low Ropes Course

With Lutherdale Counselors
1:30 - 3:30 p.m. Thurs
Explore new heights at the Eagle’s Nest Adventure Center right onsite at Lutherdale. Trained facilitators create an atmosphere where participants feel comfortable to stretch beyond limits with challenging activities. While the Low Ropes Course is available to all, participants must have finished 2nd grade and be large enough to fit the harnesses to do the climbing tower and zipline.

Waterfront Activities

Self-organized
Open 2:30 - 5 p.m. Mon - Wed, Fri, on Thurs waterfront will open after activities at Eagle’s Nest Adventure Center are completed at about 3:30pm and stay open until 5pm.
Campers can swim and play on the sand beach. The swim area offers a gradual decline that is wonderful for the littlest ones and a larger area beyond the dock for more experienced swimmers. Next to the beach is a huge toboggan run that is used as a waterslide into the lake in the summer! There are also canoes, kayaks, and paddleboards available to checkout. All waterfront activities are supervised by a lifeguard.

Open Craft Time

Self-organized
Open 1 - 5 p.m. Tues, Wed, Fri
Throughout the week, we will be using the craft room for a couple specific activities, but some afternoons, the craft room will be open for Baysiders to create on their own with the available materials.

Free Time Activities

There are many activities that campers can self-organize throughout the week. Here are a few.

Sports
There is a soccer field, disc golf, softball/kickball field, volleyball court, and gaga ball pit right outside of Watson Retreat Center. These are always open for campers to organize games. Please be sure to bring your own balls/discs!

Playground

For our young ones, there is a nice backyard playground behind Watson Retreat Center with swings, slides, and a number of other play structures.

Game Room

In the center of camp, one of the buildings has ping pong, air hockey, hoops, and a snack canteen. This will be available to Baysiders most of the day.

Fishing

While swimming and boating must be done during open waterfront hours, fishing off the dock can be done any time. Most campers like to go early in the morning, but we have a few enthusiastic fishers who have a need for a lot more fishing in their Bayside experience!

Walking Trails

There are a few nature trails throughout camp that are wonderful for a relaxing solitary stroll or a chat with a fellow Baysider.

Board Games and Puzzles

Our community room is generally chalk full of board games and puzzles that Baysiders have brought with them. It's pretty easy to find some willing participants to play.

Biking

Near camp, there are a number of bike trails. Campers will often organize a long group ride together or go out on their own.
